The dental specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery has undergone dramatic changes in the last 20 years. The training of the oral and maxillofacial surgeon has broadened beyond all imagination and includes a very broad scope of surgery and medicine. The training of the modern oral and maxillofacial surgeon is very intensive, rigorous and competitive. All training programs are at least four years. There are multiple programs around the country that include the pursuit of medical degree, as well as a certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Many practitioners have chosen to broaden their practice to include a wide scope of cosmetic surgery, e/g, face lifts, rhinoplasty, etc. There are also many surgeons who have decided to specialize or limit their practice to implants and reconstructive surgery. However, there still remains at the core of this specialty, those well trained individuals, who have continued to practice within the more “traditional” venues of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Our practice is one of those. We offer a very broad range of services and believe that we have the talent, experience, and staff to provide those services efficiently and safely. Despite the efforts to continue to inform the public about “the breadth and depth” of training, there still remains some questions about the role of the oral and maxillofacial surgeon in patient care. The oral and maxillofacial surgeon has unique qualifications and skills to enable him/her to practice equally well, in an office or hospital setting, and allow the surgeon the diversity to remove a tooth, or completely reconstruct a jaw deformed by a birth defect, cancer or facial injury.

I am proud to be a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and all that it has done to improve this specialty of dentistry/surgery and offer the public an incredible opportunity to be treated by some of the most well trained individuals in the world. I offer a profile of my practice and what it has to offer in service to you, your family and friends.
